Dr. Shanai Hill is an audiologist at Florida Gulf Coast Hearing Center. For nearly 12 years, she has worked alongside her husband Dr. Samuel Hill in the audiology department they began at the center. Before joining the Florida Gulf Coast team, Dr. Hill practiced pediatric audiology at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, working as the lead audiologist on the cochlear implant team. She also has experience working with a private practice ear, nose, and throat specialist in Detroit. At this position, she performed adult hearing and vestibular evaluations. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders from Michigan State University and went on to obtain a Master of Science degree in Audiology from Wayne State University. Most recently, she obtained a Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Florida. With all of her experiences combined, Dr. Hill has 18 years of experience diagnosing and treating audiovestibular disease.

Billy

Billy T. Crooks, HIS

We welcomed Billy T. Crooks to the team in May of 2015. For many years, Billy worked as a popular radio air-personality while he was obtaining a degree in marketing from Michigan State University. Though he is a native of mid-Michigan, Billy’s musical passions moved him around the country, briefly living in St. Louis, New York City, and Nashville. He has worked as a sound engineer with a number of bands in Michigan and at a studio in New York City. He later ran his own real estate appraisal company for 11 years in Michigan, but decided he was ready to try something new and escape the cold weather.

Since his child years, Billy always had a curiosity to “see how things work,” often taking apart electronics and repairing them. This curiosity coupled with his vast music and sound knowledge made him an excellent choice for the audiology field. His longtime friend. Dr. Samuel Hill knew he’d make a great fit on our team and invited him down to sunny Florida to take over operations at Florida Gulf Coast Hearing Center. Billy became an official Hearing Aid Specialist to prepare for the job. This title requires the completion of studies with the International Hearing Society, a rigorous training process, and the successful completion of a state test.

When he’s not at the office, Billy enjoys playing his guitar and recording music at his home studio, as well as traveling, watching sports, and catching up with family and friends.

Bonnie

Bonnie McVeigh, Audiology Assistant

Bonnie joined the Florida Gulf Coast team in March of 2018. She’s originally from New Jersey but moved to Southwest Florida in 2009. Though she’s worked in the hearing industry since 2017, her work background ranges from family services to fine jewelry, luxury furniture. From a young age, Bonnie has always enjoyed helping both children and the elderly.

As an Audiology Assistant, our patients are Bonnie’s number one priority. She assists them as much as possible before scheduling. Her duties also include cleaning and checking hearing aids to ensure proper function, as well as performing in-office repairs when needed. Bonnie gives patients the tools to care for their devices on their own, so their hearing aids will work for many years. She also manages the operations of the repair department, ensuring our patients’ devices are fixed as quickly as possible.

When she isn’t working, Bonnie enjoys going on adventures with her children and husband as well as volunteering with her church’s women’s ministry.
